PROJECT: Courtyard House

Our design for this private house is currently on site.

Our client collects mid 20th century furniture and wanted a contemporary design as a sympathetic setting for her collection.

Although located in a Conservation Area, we successfully made the case for a high quality modern house that complements and enhances the local scene.

Our design for this long, narrow site takes advantage of the surrounding high boundary walls which are left intact, with separate living and sleeping wings for the new house placed to create a semi-private entrance court and a secluded courtyard garden as an outdoor living room. We maximised natural daylight into the house while avoiding overlooking adjoining gardens. We proposed a palette of pale materials to provide a calm backdrop to the vibrant colours of the furnishings.
